Starfish Construction recognised by Considerate Constructors Scheme
We are delighted to announce that one of our prestigious high-profile projects, Tufnell Park in London, which is an on-going scheme in our re-cladding portfolio, has been awarded 4 stars from the Considerate Constructors Scheme association.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme promotes best practice within the industry. The scheme acknowledges our approach to safety, site set-up and organisation while minimising disruption on a very challenging and complex site. This award is testament to our extensive processes and the diligence, hard work and expertise of our Project Management and Site Installation Teams. We continue to strive to achieve this high standard on all of our sites nationwide.
The Considerate Constructors Scheme is a not-for-profit, independent organisation founded to raise standards in the construction industry.
Construction sites, companies and suppliers voluntarily register with the scheme and agree to abide by the Code of Considerate Practice, designed to encourage best practice beyond statutory requirements. You can find more information on the Code by clicking here.
The scheme is concerned about any area of construction activity that may directly or indirectly impact the industry's image as a whole. The main areas of concern fall into three categories: the general public, the workforce and the environment.
Starfish Construction as Principal Contractor is undertaking the full scheme of works associated with the required re-cladding works including,
- Surveying of the existing buildings
- Removal of the identified hazardous materials taking the works back to the bare structure.
- Design and approvals by the clients appointed consultants of the proposed replacement works.
- Occupation of the site and responsibility for Starfish Operatives' security and safety and the client's residents.
- Installation of the new non-combustible façade system specified by the client and all the associated works to enhance the building's performance by using the latest materials and techniques available to us.
Commenting on the project and award, Adam Denton-Beaumont, Starfish Construction Senior Project Manager, informed us, "These awards demonstrate the high levels of excellence and safety performed by the Starfish Construction team. From the site-based project team to the people who have structured and managed the project to this stage.
I applaud the work carried out by the Code of Considerate Practice, as this drives a 'duty of care' across the industry, addressing the project relationship with the local community, considering the environment and of course the safety aspect throughout."
At a time of challenges across the UK Construction industry, including Coronavirus, these assessments and awards bring focus for constructors and ensure best practices.
Starfish Construction Managing Director John Jessimer commented, "It's encouraging to receive the award. Not only for the accreditation and recognition for our work at Tufnell Park, but it also demonstrates the value in the work we have developed in our company culture, values and people.
I congratulate everyone involved. It's a recognition that each individual should be delighted to have played their part in."
